Trusting the Law by Rachel Carrington

Forbidden Publications
Heat Index: Mainstream
Genre:
Historical Romance

“The last person Anna needs to fall in love with is a police officer, especially since she breaks the law every day. Running a speakeasy wasn’t her first choice, but making money is. With the price of hooch at an all-time premium, the money is more than enough to pay for her uncle’s expensive medication and pay the bills. She doubts Officer Paul Gordon will see things the same way.

Paul is enchanted with the chestnut-haired woman he runs into on a cold, Chicago street. And that enchantment quickly turns to more. If someone were to tell him she was a criminal, he’d never believe it. Then he sees it for himself. When Anna is arrested, he must make a decision—protect her or his badge.

Dangerous Dalliances by Jade Jurgensen

Heat Index: Erotic/Extreme
Genre: Action/Adventure | Fetish/BDSM/Ménage

“You’re saying the Sopranos are living next door. Not the television bunch, but the real thing?”

“Amy, promise me not to go anywhere near that beach house. Promise me that you won’t even think about any dalliances. It’s far too dangerous.”

Amy stared at her cousin. Dangerous dalliances. She liked the sound of that despite Luke’s fearful concern. “All right. I promise.”

Yet the tall, dark, and mysterious is too great a lure. Amy is not afraid to use her feminine wiles to inch closer to the perilous secrets of a “businessman” from New Orleans named Jake Snow, rumored to have ties with the underworld, hiding out in the small seashore town of Diamondback Cove. Why? Amy is on a mission to find out. Dating her cousin’s best friend Byron, however, throws her closer to the inner flame than she expected. But Amy likes the heat. That is, until she realizes all the warnings were very, very real.

Featured Author{s} of the Month

Coming off of Nationals I have been delving into a lot of Tools of the Trade type of books.
If you’re interested in writing, I highly recommend getting this book on characters.
The Complete Writer’s Guide to Heroes & Heroines, Sixteen Master Archetypes by Tami D. Cowden, Caro LaFever, Sue Viders.

It covers such hero archetypes such as the Bad Boy, the Best Friend, and my personal favorite the Swashbuckler. Some heroine archetypes include the Crusader, the Boss and the Librarian.

There’s also a lovely section on how certain hero and heroines interact and gives examples from well known T.V., shows.

You can order this book on Amazon dot com here:
http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Writers-Guide-Heroes-Heroines/dp/1580650244/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1220380251&sr=8-1

Some Interesting Facts about Little People
Since my new series tends to cover a lot about the Fey folk, I thought I would share some interesting facts about Little People that I came across in my research.

Will O’ The Wisp: Phospherent lights that dance in the night sky. Often believe to be the souls of the unbaptized children. The Catholics refer to them as St. Elmo’s Fire when they appear at sea. Harmless they prefer to live in damp places such as swamps, moors, graveyards. They are rarely seen during a bright sunny day.

Red Caps: And you thought J.K. Rowling was kidding! These nasty short old elves like to live in Scottish towers. They have long grey hair and red hats. They like to drop things out of towers onto people passing by, so they can soak their caps red with the innocent’s blood. When the blood fades they seek out a new victim. Fear not, you can get rid of Red Caps by carrying a cross or reciting words from the Bible.

The Dames Vertes: Give life to the earth, making everything go green. They are tall, beautiful and seductive. They dress in green tunics, but are very rarely seen. They are usually invisible; walking so gracefully over a field that the only sign that they are there is the slight ripple of grass in their wake.

In Closing

Summer is almost over, and my fall is insanely busy with the creation the Enchantress Series. It’s still hot here, and I kind of long for the day of smelling bon fires and pumpkin pie baking in the oven. Next month is my favorite month! Not only my wedding anniversary, but Thanksgiving (for us Canucks) and Halloween, hopefully I’ll have a print copy of Masque of Desire to give away and some word on some upcoming book signings!

Submissions
Don’t Forget that Whispers is Accepting Submissions!
Whispers is now taking submissions for spicy, sensual love stories which leave a reader breathless, intense plots, alpha males, strong heroines and sizzling dialogue.

With fiery passion and flaming heat, these books should be packed with plenty of action, steamy romance, and always a happy ending. Though strong conflict is necessary, it should not detract from the passionate relationship. Sub-plots should be kept to a minimum as should secondary characters.

We are looking for stories in any genre from science fiction to historical. Just make it romantic and erotic. Word count should be no less than 5,000 words and no more than 75,000 words.
Please visit our website at www.whispershome.com/submissions.html  for more information and details on how to submit.

Every accepted novella (10,000-35,000 words) will be considered for publication in one of our print anthologies.
